About the Author

John Cooper was born in 1937 and is now a widower, living in a retirement village on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. During his working life he was mainly self-employed in various businesses. Over the years he has occasionally put pen to paper, more for his own amusement than as a serious literary effort.

The first book John wrote was The Village, which tells of a David and Goliath battle between elderly village residents and the village operator. His second book, Grandad Remembers, is a memoir of short stories.

After his wife of 66 years, Vicky, died in 2022, John wrote and published three books of poetry, Words on Paper, More Words on Paper and Some More Words on Paper. In the second of these he introduced a character called Walter who, with his wife and seven children, lived on a farm in the 1920s. Two of John’s granddaughters told him that Walter needed a book of his own, and so Walter and Family was written, a novel in rhyme.

While John was writing it, he thought a novel in prose would be easier, so he rewrote the rhyming story of Walter and his family as a novel. One book led to another, and there are now six books in the series.

A Knight Without Armour is his latest book.
